How To Make Rosemary Shampoo

Homemade shampoo is a great way of ensuring you only put natural and fresh ingredients on your hair. Rosemary has many hair and scalp enriching properties which makes it a great choice for shampoo, and it also smells fantastic and blends with ease with other ingredients. Making your own rosemary shampoo isn’t too difficult at all.

The Nourishing Benefits of Rosemary

Rosemary has many skin and hair nourishing properties. It is particularly well-known for stimulating hair growth and it also has antibacterial properties. Rosemary is also a great treatment for dried out scalp and dandruff, and it can help strengthen hair, so it doesn’t fall out as easily when brushing or washing.

As well as its nourishing benefits for your hair and scalp, rosemary is also renowned for its memory improving properties, and it has many other health benefits too. Enjoying rosemary in essential oil form is the easiest way to enjoy its many health properties. It can be used in massage, in diffusers and of course in your homemade rosemary shampoo.

Below are a couple of recipes for rosemary shampoo you can try at home.

DIY Rosemary Shampoo

Ingredients

— 250ml castile soap

— 250ml filtered/distilled water

— 16 drops of Rosemary essential oil

— 3 tablespoons of raw honey or olive oil

Method

The process of creating your shampoo could not be much easier, you simply blend together all the ingredients in a bowl or jar and then package ready for use. The shampoo benefits from all the health nourishing properties of rosemary but also those of the honey or olive added for further richness.

Rosemary and Lavender Shampoo

For something a little different you could try a more fragrant rosemary and lavender recipe as below:

Ingredients

— 250ml castile soap

— 250ml filtered/distilled water

— 3 tablespoons of raw honey, olive oil or coconut oil

— 1–3 drops of rosemary essential oil

— 1–3 drops of lavender essential oil

Method

As before simply combine the ingredients together and mix well to create a rich and nourishing shampoo. If you do choose to use the coconut oil you will need to melt it down first.

When using your new shampoo, you should only need a small amount to create a rich lather and shampoo as normal. You can increase or reduce the volume of essential oils you use to your personal preference and benefit from the fragrance as well as the nourishing properties of your chosen oils.
