In the fields, the waving heads of lavender are beginning to show their true colours. The spring weather has been exceptionally warm and dry, the lavender plants love warmth and dry conditions, with a sprinkling of rain! The new plantings are coming on, it’s good to see the regeneration begin to happen.
The farm has a stunning collection of trees from distant lands, that have matured here in this quiet haven – including Australasian Eucalyptus varieties, Kanagaroo Apple, and a Wollemi Pine from New South Wales; Monterey Pine and Monterey Cedars from Northern California; Scots Pine.
Wandering around the farm is a sensory experience, we invite you to slowly wander through the garden, the tiny woodland, the fields, savouring the visual colours, shapes and patterns – fractals have a beneficial effect in quieting our busy minds! Experience the scents of summer, close your eyes, breathe, notice the aromas that come to you. Listen for the sounds of bees buzzing from flower to flower, the birdsong. Feel the texture of the blooms and leaves, some may surprise you!
Come back through the garden, to the cafe, take a seat on the veranda or under the giant Monterey Pine, with a view over the lavender field or the garden…rest awhile, with some Lavender tea perhaps, a scone or lavender shortbread…taste what you have been enjoying through your other senses.
Finally, take a wander through our shop which carries our whole range of pure essential oils produced on the farm – Pure Lavender – Lavender augustiflora, Lavander grosso, Rosemary and Eucalyptus.
